Dr. Marc Bohlen,
LL.M. (Stellenbosch)*

Dr. Marc Bohlen has been advising his clients in national and international contexts for many years. His area of practice includes copyright and intellectual property law as well as media, press and statements law. He assists his clients in matters of trade secret protection and data protection as well as IT law and also advises on employment law issues. Due to his expertise, he participated in the legislative design of the Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG) and advised the German Bundestag in this context.

Dr. Marc Bohlen has many years of experience as a lawyer and has worked for internationally operating law firms in Hamburg and Munich in recent years. In 2021, he moved to tqf legal in Berlin. Born in Hamburg, he passed both state examinations in Bavaria. He wrote his doctoral thesis in Munich. In addition, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree with a focus on intellectual property law in Stellenbosch (South Africa).

Dr Marc Bohlen provides comprehensive media advice to companies and private individuals. Advertising, print media and social media form the core of his practice, which also includes legal defence of well-known personalities. Due to his expertise, he participated in the legislative design of the Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG) and advised the German Bundestag in this context.

Competition Law:

A particular focus of Dr Marc Bohlen's work is representing companies in and out of court in the area of unfair competition. In this context, he assists companies in the implementation of new products on the national and international market as well as in the defence against competitors acting unlawfully.

Labour law:

Dr Marc Bohlen represents and advises his clients comprehensively in the field of labour law. In addition to representation in court, this also includes, above all, the drafting and implementation of complex contractual structures.

Protection of trade secrets:

The topic of trade secret protection is closely intertwined with data protection law and labour law. Dr Marc Bohlen uses his expertise to help companies protect trade secrets, know-how and intellectual property. In the past, he has dealt extensively with complex, cross-border court disputes in the area of infringement of technical trade secrets and understands how to take action against the misuse of trade secrets, also by way of interim injunction proceedings.

Copyright law is of particular importance to many clients, in addition to media law. Dr Marc Bohlen also advises his clients in this regard and ensures a result-oriented solution based on his many years of experience. His most recent publication in this area of law is "Der Streitwert im Rahmen der urheberrechtlichen Abmahnung" (NJW 2017, 777 - 779).

Data protection / IT law:

Dr Marc Bohlen is familiar with the unpleasant stumbling blocks of data protection law. For many years, he has accompanied his clients along this rocky road in order to jointly find practicable solutions in the implementation of and compliance with data protection and IT law. In this context, Dr Marc Bohlen also published "Der zivilrechtliche Auskunftsanspruch bei der Bekämpfung von Hass im Internet" (NJW 2020, 1999 - 2004), which is cited by the Cologne Higher Regional Court in its decisions, for example.
